The safest and most user-friendly iPhone crypto wallets ranked by security, supported coins, and ease of use — from beginner-friendly hot wallets to hardware wallet integration.
Every iPhone crypto user faces the same fundamental choice: hot wallets (apps connected to the internet) or cold wallets (hardware devices for offline storage).
Hot wallets live on your iPhone as apps. They're convenient for daily use and small amounts. Top options include MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, and Exodus. They're free, easy to use, and support hundreds of coins — but they're only as secure as your iPhone and your seed phrase storage.
Cold wallets (hardware wallets) store private keys offline. Ledger and Trezor both have iOS companion apps that let you manage your assets while the keys stay on a physical device. Recommended for holdings over $1,000.
| Wallet | Type | Best For | Supported Coins | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ledger Nano X | Cold (hardware) | Security-first investors | 5,500+ | ~$149 |
| Trust Wallet | Hot (app) | Beginners, multi-chain | 4.5M+ tokens | Free |
| MetaMask | Hot (app) | Ethereum & DeFi users | ETH + EVM chains | Free |
| Coinbase Wallet | Hot (app) | Beginners (US) | Thousands | Free |
| Exodus | Hot (app) | Ease of use, portfolio view | 260+ | Free |
Whatever wallet you choose, follow these security rules:
No — and this is a source of widespread confusion (and scams). Apple Wallet stores loyalty cards, payment cards, boarding passes, and IDs. Apple Wallet does not support cryptocurrency storage.
Apple Pay can be used as a payment method to purchase crypto on certain exchanges (Coinbase, Crypto.com, and others accept Apple Pay for purchases). But the crypto is stored in your exchange account or a separate wallet app — not in Apple Pay.
Any app claiming to be an 'Apple crypto wallet' or 'Apple Pay crypto storage' is fraudulent. Report it to Apple at reportphishing@apple.com.
